Enjoy Night Street Food
The street food scene in Ho Chi Minh City permeates through every district, neighborhood, an alleyway and if you have been in Ho Chi Minh city, you must be familiar with takeaway stalls selling coffee, banh mi or snacks scattered around the city.
One of the most attractive features of Ho Chi Minh is that you can find a room to taste all of its authenticity street cuisine which is made by local in a special recipes.
During the trip in Ho Chi Minh city, I was so curious about Saigon street food, How does it taste? How does it smell? So I have made an online research and booked a day tour in this Saigon street food tours list around the city. It can offer you the chance to not only feel the city vibes and immerse into Ho Chi Minh rich history but also get to taste the locals' most favorite food.
Saigon Chinatown
First station in my food tour is Saigon Chinatown to explore Chinese cuisine combined with Vietnamese cuisine. In Ho Chi Minh, Chinatown is an attraction not only for tourists but also for the Saigones, located in District 5, it is the centre of Chinese culture and where the majority of Chinese communities have been established.
You can have a look at the best dishes list below to try in Saigon Chinatown:
- Chili paste noodle soup: Chili paste noodle soup originates from Teochew, China. This soup is the result of two cultures, Teochew and Java, when they lived together. You can try this noodle soup at Quang Ky restaurant (117 Trieu Quan Phuc, Ward 11, District 5)
- Stewed duck noodle soup: The duck meat is mixed with herbs and spices, then fried and stewed, making the meat soft and easy to eat. The noodles are made of eggs and flour; they are long and tough. You can eat this at:
- Hai Ky restaurant – 349 – 351 Nguyễn Trãi, Ward 7, District 5
- Thiem Huy restaurant – 445 Nguyễn Trãi, Ward 7, District 5
- Jiaozi: Traditionally, Chinese family members would make jiaozi together to celebrate Chinese New Year’s Eve. When it comes to Vietnam, it was changed slightly to fit in with the Vietnamese culture. The jiaozi in Vietnam is mainly boiled jiaozi, served with light sweet bouillon and bok choy. You can easily find jiaozi at numerous restaurants in Chinatown
Vinh Khanh Street: the heaven of street food

The street is vibrant, as if the thundering cacophony of laughter, traffic, and orders being shouted wasn’t enough, some enterprising teenagers pull up on the curbside with giant amplifiers strapped to the backs of their motorbikes and proceed to blast out karaoke for the ‘entertainment’ of all street food customers.
Some delicious dishes you should try here:
- Sea Nails
- Sushi Ko
- Cow Intestine Soup
- Chicken Rice
- Stewed Duck Noodle Soup (but not as good as Chinatown)
